News & Events

Adventures in the Estuary Camp is a fun and educational way for your child to discover the importance of the coastal community, explore the many habitats found at the GTM Research Reserve, and even participate in research projects just like the biologists who work here! All sessions will be balanced with camp games and crafts that support the learning themes! This year we're dividing our age groups into separate months. June is for 7-10 year olds and July is for 10-12 year olds. Each week will focus on a specific habitat that comprises the estuarine ecosystem (Beach, Estuary, and Uplands). Camps run Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Blue Star Museum

Starting May 21, 2014 the GTM Research Reserve is one of more than 2,000 museums across America to offer free admission to military personnel and their families this summer in collaboration with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and the Department of Defense. Free admission to the GTM Research Reserve's Environmental Education Center is being offered to the nation's active duty military personnel, including National Guard and Reserve and their families, from Memorial Day through Labor Day 2014. The GTM Research Reserve has been voted the "Best Place to Kayak" by Folio Weekly

Paddle the GTM Research Reserve! The coastal estuary offers incredible views of lush vegetation, nesting bald eagles, and possible encounters with the Atlantic bottlenose dolphin and the West Indian manatee. Most of all, this area provides a glimpse into what real Florida has to offer; shear beauty nestled between civilization to the north and south.
