The GTM Research Reserve, in collaboration with the Marineland Dolphin Adventure, hosted a free lecture, “Getting to Know Your Snakes” at Marineland Dolphin Adventure.

Joe Burgess, GTM Research Reserve resource management coordinator and biologist, specializing in reptiles and amphibians (Herpetology), gave a presentation he described as “learning to love the snakes you love to hate.” He focused primarily on why snakes are so misunderstood, which species are in your neighborhood, why they are there, and how they and all wildlife benefit ecosystems. He brought along several species for viewing and for interaction with anyone that was so inclined. If you missed out on this lecture, be sure to sign up for the next one!

This program is one of an ongoing Third-Tuesday-of-the-Month GTM lecture series designed to help inform the public about their natural world. These events are free, so space is limited. For reservations, click here or call 904-823-4500 for more information.
