Attention all sea turtle fans! You don’t want to miss tomorrow’s Afternoon Insight lecture – “A Florida Mystery: The Emergence of a Debilitating Cancer in Juvenile Sea Turtles.” The Guest lecturer is David Duffy, a cancer molecular biologist at the Sea Turtle Hospital, University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience. He and other researchers are currently working to better understand fibropapilloma (cauliflower-like growths), an emerging cancer affecting sea turtles worldwide. This virus has been reported in growing numbers around the world, but is now occurring in our local sea turtle population.

Please join us tomorrow from 3-4 p.m. at GTM’s Environmental Education Center. If you arrive early, you can take a free tour of the Exhibit Hall! Tickets to the lecture are also free, but online registration is required. For more information, call 904-823-4500.
