Led by seasoned naturalist and educator Richard Thomas\, this course blends classroom instruction with real-world fieldwork to give participants the tools to identify\, understand and appreciate the diverse plant life of the GTM Research Reserve. \nWith expert guidance\, you’ll uncover the ecological importance of wildflowers and learn how to recognize and document them like a pro. \n\nWeek 1 (Sept. 20): Introduction to GTM Habitats & Florida Wildflowers\nOverview of barrier islands\, marshes\, and microclimates that shape local plant life.\nWeek 2 (Sept. 27): Plant Parts & ID Practice\nLearn key leaf and flower structures; practice with real samples in the garden.\nWeek 3 (Oct. 4): Backyard Wildflowers & Invasives\nTips for native gardening at home and how to recognize invasive species.\nWeek 4 (Oct. 11): Observation Ethics & Technology\nExplore tools like iNaturalist and best practices for plant photography and documentation.\nWeek 5 (Oct. 18): Guided Field Session\nApply your new knowledge on GTM’s trails in a hands-on guided walk.\n\nREGISTER HERE!
