Yesterday was the first day of Estuary Week for the GTM’s 4-6 and 7-9 year-old campers and it was a blast! The minnow group went out to the shore and participated in a mini seining using small nets! They put their nets into the water and brought up all sorts of local sea life. The group also enjoyed a scavenger hunt in the Environmental Education Center. The 7-9 year-old campers learned about emergent vegetation using a drone! Emergent vegetation are plants partially submerged into water while the flowers or leaves sit above water. Although the plant is exposed to the air, it is also exposed to wind and the insects that help the plant during its pollination stage. We’re looking forward to next Monday to see what we will learn next!
