Take your camera out of auto mode and into your creative control! This five-session course introduces you to the fundamentals of exposure and manual camera control. Through a mix of in-class demonstrations, guided practice and take-home assignments, you will build confidence in using ISO, aperture and shutter speed to craft well-exposed, artistic photographs.<\/p>\n
Whether you\u2019re just starting out or looking to better understand your camera\u2019s full capabilities, this course lays the foundation for creating intentional, artistic photographs.<\/p>\n

Week 1 (Oct. 1): Getting Started & the Exposure Triangle<\/strong> Learn your camera\u2019s anatomy and how ISO, aperture and shutter speed work.<\/li>\n
Week 2 (Oct. 8): Aperture & Depth of Field<\/strong> Explore how aperture affects focus and storytelling. Learn to use aperture creatively for isolation or depth.<\/li>\n
Week 3 (Oct. 15): Shutter Speed & Motion<\/strong> Understand how to freeze or blur motion using shutter speed. Practice techniques like action freezing and creative motion blur.<\/li>\n
Week 4 (Oct. 22): ISO & Light Sensitivity<\/strong> Learn how ISO impacts image brightness and quality. Conduct controlled experiments to see the effects in different lighting conditions.<\/li>\n
Week 5 (Oct. 29): Putting It All Together + Intro to Post-Processing<\/strong> Use manual mode to make creative decisions in-camera and get introduced to post-processing tools to enhance your final images.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
