Friends of GTM Research Reserve
Become a Friend today and join us in supporting the tireless efforts of Friends of GTM Research Reserve as they contribute to the long-term success and sustainability of GTMNERR.
Friends of GTM Research Reserve is a dedicated 501(c)(3) nonprofit citizen support organization working hand-in-hand with the Guana Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (GTMNERR). Our mission is to champion the preservation, enhancement, and understanding of one of Northeast Florida’s most remarkable natural assets — over 76,000 acres of pristine estuarine and coastal habitats.
As committed advocates, we provide essential financial resources, volunteer energy, and community outreach to bolster the Reserve’s vital work. From funding groundbreaking scientific research to supporting environmental education programs and spearheading habitat restoration efforts, Friends of GTM ensures that GTMNERR remains a thriving “living laboratory” and sanctuary for wildlife, researchers, students, and visitors alike.
After more than 20 years of impact supporting research, education, and conservation, Friends of GTM is undertaking an exciting new chapter — the Reimagine the Estuary project. This visionary effort will transform how visitors experience the Reserve, creating innovative spaces, interactive exhibits, and immersive educational opportunities that bring the estuary’s beauty, science, and cultural heritage to life.
